Hmong American here! lovely video! Just wanted to add that Hmong people are not related to Mongolians or Mongolia at all smile common misconception, but we are originally from southern or west China! Then have migrated to several southeast Asian countries as nomadic hill people to escape Chinese imperialism and maintain autonomy.

Nice video. A quick bit of local knowledge. The rice is planted in May. June — Early August the fields are green; this is also the rainy season. Mid August through September is the harvest season with golden rice fields and terraces.
The sleeper bus also has the advantage of going directly to Sa Pa where the train goes to Lao Cai about 45 minutes away. Ohh and your train was lovely but most take the normal train which is quite «rustic» lol.
