I believe Quy Nhon beach is more shallow than the quick drop off in Nha Trang. Lovely small town with that small town feel, a bit rusty around the edge but genuine.

I still get so impressed with Vietnamese coastal cities healthy approach. The locals get up super early to go to the beach to exercise at 5am to 7am then they go home to have breakfast and go to school/work. The beach is empty for us foreign tourist sun worshipers to use like billionaires. 4:30pm they get home from school or work and they go to the beach to exercise and socialize. They let small vendors sell their food so that rich and poor have access to delicious freshly cooked food. Most importantly, the city make sure the public beach is accessible to everyone. I've been to places with super nice beach but they are exclusively private resort so the locals don't have access to what is rightfully theirs.

Safe travel and hope you enjoy VN. We certainly did and miss it a lot, notably the people and the communal lifestyle.
