Long Xuyen is the second largest city in the Mekong delta and the capital of An Giang province. It does not really appear on any tourist guidebooks, but it is really worth a visit. Making friends here is the easiest thing to do. We drove 190km from Saigon to get there, in the last part of the trip swiping views of rice paddies and super modern bridges.We planned to stay two days but ended up staying a week. We made great friends and discovered small temples, food, milk tea with bobas and cheap beer. We witnessed Vietnam winning the Asian soccer cup on a big screen — soccer is THE thing in Vietnam so the atmosphere was amazing. We repaired a tyre puncture in the most authentic place and serviced our bikes at a Yamaha dealer.
