Besides a few legends of why the river was called or nicknamed «Perfume river», another reason is that in autumn, flowers and orchids upriver from Hue drop into the water, giving off a nice and pleasant aroma. So by saying that «the Huong River has the nickname Perfume River» you can honor the original name as well as promote tourism.
